Ange Postecoglou holds his first press conference as Tottenham Hotspur manager on Monday and Harry Kane is set to dominate the agenda.
The Australian has enjoyed his first week of pre-season at the north London club after joining fresh from winning the domestic treble with Celtic. Now, as Spurs prepare to tour Perth, Bangkok and Singapore, Postecoglou addresses the media at Hotspur Way on Monday afternoon with plenty to discuss.
With Bayern Munich having submitted an €80m (£68.3m) bid for Kane, which also includes add-ons up top, and expected to be rejected, Postecoglou will be asked plenty of questions about his star player, who soccer.london will reportedly return to pre-season training on Wednesday ahead of the tour.
The subject of transfers will also be a pressing one as Spurs have already brought in a new goalkeeper in Guglielmo Vicario as well as the £40million arrival of England international James Maddison, with winger Manor Solomon set to join on a free transfer while undergoing his doctor on Monday. Tottenham are also looking to rebuild their defense with a pair of arrivals for Postecoglou’s backline.
The 57-year-old boss will also decide which Spurs players will not go on the tour with the squad on Friday and will instead be allowed to look for new clubs. Club captain Hugo Lloris has already publicly stated that he would like to leave for a new challenge if Tottenham allow it. There are also those like Tanguy Ndombele who could get a fresh start under the new Spurs boss.
Our Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting the questions to Postecoglou. Scroll down for his latest updates from the press conference at Hotspur Way.

Postecoglou on his message to his players
Just about being open-minded and not getting stuck by expectation and history. We will go a different way. Not because it’s better, just because it’s me and it’s what I do. It doesn’t change where we’re going, it might derail it a little, although I won’t allow it to be long, and it’s about who wants to take this train so we can get to our destination.
The Spurs boss on the talk of his past
I’ve had people say if you’re at Celtic you can only finish first or second, but second is last. I didn’t want to be in a job. With what people perceive as a step up, you are working with bigger players and a bigger organization. I never saw it as a step up, just a new challenge for me.

More from Postecoglou
From the outside, it’s important that we establish some key principles in how we want to play and how we want to interact with everyone else. That’s the key. Goals (goals) are good, but they can stifle you somewhat. We have to adapt to what is in front of us. You can plan as much as you want, but you have to be flexible.
Postecoglou on squad changes
I think in terms of the squad I think it’s fair to say that the reason I’m here is because the club is looking for change. This usually means a change of personnel. I have to work with the certainties I have and tick off the uncertainties one by one. It may take some time to see my full team, but I’m excited to start working with them.
More about Kane
I haven’t had any insurance and I wouldn’t expect any. With these types of situations, you are never dealing with security. I can only go with what I know right now. Harry is part of the squad and is looking forward to being back and part of the players.
Postecoglou on injuries
We have a couple, Rodrigo Bentancur is still out. Fraser Forster has a back injury and will not travel. There are a few others. We’ll see how they go. I really want as many of the group as possible to go to start building that team and camaraderie.
The new Spurs boss on Tanguy Ndombele
Tanguy has been good. He has worked hard in training as they all have because they have no choice! I take things as I see them. He was part of a Serie A winning team last season and he has worked well. In that context, I am happy to have him here and part of the group. What that means in the long term, we’ll see. Maybe he doesn’t want to be a part of things.
He followed Harry Kane
I don’t think it’s my role to sit there and treat people a way because of their circumstances. I treat everyone the same. Harry is already an important figure in the history of this football club. He is one of the leading players in the world. I want him here and I want to make this club successful. I’m sure he will too.
It will not be a conversation where we come out with some kind of understanding. I just want to introduce myself and I want to know what he wants to happen to make this football club successful, then we’ll go out there on the training pitch and make it happen.
While we wait
While we await Postecoglou’s answers to questions, let’s take a look at the club’s youth set-up.
