Just like that, Wimbledon is only 1 week away. The grass court season flies by at a fast pace, so players can’t waste any time trying to get their game in shape for the third Grand Slam of the year. This week many of them take their talents to Eastbourne, where there is a 250-point event for the men and a 500-point event for the women.
I cashed Frances Tiafoe at +1400 in Stuttgart to start the grass swing and got within 1 set of Andrey Rublev (+1100) who successfully hit for me in Halle last week, so let’s keep the momentum going. Here are the odds and my picks for Week 3 of the turf festivities.

ATP Eastbourne 3-Star Value Bet: Nicolas Jarry (+700)
I’m tempted to pick Taylor Fritz, but there’s very rarely any value in favorites the week before a Grand Slam, and this tournament is no exception. With players of varying degrees of motivation levels with Wimbledon on the immediate horizon, it’s worth taking longer odds shots. Jarry is a good mix of a guy who is not top favorite at Eastbourne but also has a very realistic chance of winning. The Chilean has been in fantastic form all year and is coming off a quarter-final performance last week on the grass courts in Halle.
ATP Eastbourne 2 Star Value Bet: Lorenzo Sonego (+1000)
Sonego finished second at this tournament in 2021 and he captured a grass court title in Antalya 4 years ago. It is clear that the Italian is one of the more comfortable players on this particular surface. Sonego advanced a round in both Stuttgart and Halle earlier this month, plus he pushed Jannik Sinner to 3 sets at the latter. I also like his place in the Eastbourne draw as he wouldn’t face Fritz until the semi-final and Jarry before the final.
ATP Eastbourne 1 Star Value Bet: Tomas Martin Etcheverry (+5000)
Etcheverry has only won a single grass court match in his entire career; but, hey, like i said before, this is a week where you’re going to take big swings. The Argentine extended Ugo Humbert to 5 sets in the first round of Wimbledon last summer, which is an encouraging result. Fast forward 12 months and Etcheverry is playing by far the best tennis of her career. He is ready to keep winning anyone surface.

Elena Rybakina +340
Petra Kvitova +900
Our Jabeur +900
Barbora Krejcikova +1000
Coco Gauff +1200
Carolina Garcia +1400
Jessica Pegula +1400
Maria Sakkari +1600
Beatriz Haddad Maia +1600
Marketa Vondrousova +1600
Karolina Pliskova +1600
Jelena Ostapenko +1600
WTA Eastbourne 3 Star Value Bet: Coco Gauff (+1200)
I’m not quite ready to go all in on Gauff at Wimbledon – or at any other major – but at a smaller tournament I think she can find the winner’s circle. The 19-year-old American has already had plenty of success on grass in the early stages of her career, and she restored that overall confidence with a recent run to the French Open quarter-finals.
WTA Eastbourne 2 Star Value Bet: Ons Jabeur (+900)
As mentioned earlier, you want to identify motivated players in the weeks leading up to the majors. That goes for underdogs and also those who need some fight training. Jabeur falls into the latter camp as she has missed plenty of time due to injuries this season. The Tunisian will be keen to go as far as possible in Eastbourne and she just might go all the way. Keep in mind that Jabeur reached the Wimbledon final last year, so she knows what she’s doing on the green stuff.
WTA Eastbourne 1 Star Value Bet: Beatriz Haddad Maia (+1600)
Haddad Maia made it to the French Open semifinals, but don’t let that fool you into thinking she’s a clay court specialist. No, the Brazilian won 2 titles on grass last season. Haddad Maia has a relatively tough draw as part of Elena Rybakina’s section, but Rybakina has the Wimbledon title to defend, so I’m not sure what the Kazakh’s motivation level will be in Eastbourne.
