Man Utd leave Tottenham stunned to hijack £51m Serie A swoop amid Kim defeat

Manchester United have set their sights on an alternative Serie A star after conceding defeat in the race for Kim Min-jae, which could see them rival Tottenham, West Ham hope a Chelsea forward will be able to replace Gianluca Scamacca, while Monday’s EC Paper Talk includes Paris Saint-Germain hoping to land a big name from Tottenham.

MAN UTD, TOTTENHAM READY FOR TRANSFER MOVE

Man Utd and Tottenham look set to battle to sign a top-class Serie A defender after Erik ten Hag’s side missed out on Napoli’s Kim Min-jae.

Ten Hag recently decided on Kim as his ideal signing to improve Man Utd’s central defensive ranks. The South Korea international was expected to move to Old Trafford, where he would have competed with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane for a starting place.

There were even claims that the move was a ‘done deal’ between Man Utd and Napoli. However, Bayern intervened in the pursuit of Kim last week and have snatched the player from Man Utd’s clutches.

According to the latest from transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Kim will be a Bayern player in the near future unless any of his other potential suitors come up with a lucrative contract offer at the last minute.

But it doesn’t look like Man Utd will do that they have identified two French defenders as alternative signings. And now Juventus’ Gleison Bremer can be added to that list.

Bremer was linked with Tottenham and Chelsea last summer, but he joined Juventus from Turin instead.

However, the Brazilian may finally end up in the Premier League this summer. On June 8, Italian outlet Transfer market revealed how the Spurs had been in contact with Bremer’s agent about a potential move.

And now the same source has come back with a big update on Bremer’s future. They reveal how Man Utd could scupper Spurs’ plans as the Red Devils are ‘particularly interested’ in signing the playerwhile Chelsea are also keeping an eye on him.

Ten Hag set on Brazil international

Man Utd have come to the realization that Kim will not move to Old Trafford and have instead decided that Bremer would be a good alternative.

As per Who scored, Bremer registered the most interceptions and clearances per match by any Juventus player in this period. He also managed the second highest number of blocks per game.

Bremer’s statistics are not only good, but he also has experience of playing at a high level, having featured for Juve in the Champions League and won three caps for the Brazilian national team. Plus, at 26, Bremer is entering his prime.

Juve do not want to lose Bremer, but if a bigger offer comes in the summer, they simply have to consider it. As such, they have set their asking price at €60m (£51m).

Should both English sides match Bremer’s price tag, he will likely have to decide between them. This is likely to leave Spurs disappointed as they cannot offer him any form of European football while Man Utd have qualified for next season’s Champions League.
