The 24-year-old is keen on a move to Old Trafford after becoming frustrated with the new regime at Stamford Bridge following contract negotiations last season.
Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Mount, who has just one year left on his deal, to stay but understands he is powerless to influence the situation. The Blues are now keen to squeeze a big transfer fee out of their rivals, but negotiations risk breaking down. United had an initial bid of £40m rejected and then a bid of £45m with a further £5m added on was rejected on Wednesday.

Moises Caciedo wants Chelsea to move
Moises Caicedo is unlikely to be short of offers this summer.
The Brighton star was a major target for Arsenal during the January transfer window and has again been linked with the Gunners along with Manchester United.

Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, writes Nizaar Kinsella and Simon Collings.
Spurs are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer and had been interested in Brentford’s David Raya. However, the Bees had demanded £40m for their No.1 and Spurs have now gone after Vicario.
A fee of around £17m has been agreed and talks over the Italian’s move to north London are at an advanced stage.
